SKZN chooses two teams for Interzone

The split between A and B teams and the order of who plays where hasn't been decided yet, with form in tournaments being keenly observed.

Southbroom Golf Club will host the prestigious annual KZN Country Districts Interzone tournament from March 8-10 this year.

The host sub-union, Southern KZN, will enter two teams with the goal of aiming for a 1-2 finish.

This has never been done before but with 10 out of the 16 players selected, who knows, it could happen.

But first, the task of ensuring a strong defence as teams like Ilembe, Northern KZN and Zululand can never be considered an easy beat.

East Griqualand have occasionally caused an upset, but never really threatened to win the overall shield.

The tournament starts with 36 holes strokeplay on the Friday, which includes a team component, morning and afternoon where the best six of eight scores count.

Then the fun starts, with matchplay on Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and rounded off with one more round of matchplay on Sunday morning.

Southern KZN’s 16 players are, in alphabetical order, Jean-Marc Bouic, Nic Crossman, Koos Jacobs, Elvis Khawula, Kirk Larsen, Robert Mavundla, Jan McDermott, Cameron Olivant, Gary Purtell, Grant Richards, David Rush, Gavin Sole, Graham Sole, Adrian van Vuuren, Cyprian Xolo and Chris Zietsman.
