Feast of festive golf at Southbroom
There's been a fantastic vibe at the club this holiday.
Gavin Sole and Jeanette Peyios won the Spooner Rose Bowl at Southbroom Golf Club.
It’s a challenging format to say the least, played as a mixed greensomes medal.
They scored nett 63 to win by four from Christer Solgevik and Precious Mkhungo.
In third place on nett 68 were Don Osbourn and Michelle van der Hoek, counting out Brian and Lynne Blackstock.
The Boschendal Golf Day, played for the 29th time, was held last Saturday and won by Tom and Kendrik Owen on 43 points.
Runners-up were Colin McKay and his son Ross, on 42 points, counting out Ant Hughes and Nicky Smith.
There were three pairs on 41 points, namely Gavin Sole and Guy Spittal, Geffen and Malcolm Moorley and then Eddie again as a pivot with Robert Mavundla.
The Major Alliance, which served as a club fundraiser, rounded out 2023.
Winners were club captain Gary Purtell, Glynn Forman, Nicky Smith and Phil Verwey on 95 points.
There were two fourballs on 90 points.
Taking second place were Anton Kohrmann, Johan Wentzel, James Carlsen and Simon Shusha.
Having to settle for third place were Bruce Begley, Jean-Henry Els, Pip and Ernest Kemm.
The Pro Day was won by the father-and-son duo of Pieter and Jean-Henri Els on 46 points.
Runners-up were Roy Huddy and Mike Volck on 44 points.
In third place were Gavin Edwards and Peter Volck on 43 points.
The ladies’ division was won by Jenny Brewis and Heleen Hissey on 38 points.
They counted out three other pairs – Gill Huddy and Sue Omand, Lindsay Owen and Sue Kupusiewicz, Cynthia Daniels and Jeanne Powell.
