Off the hook: Summer fishing on the agenda

Latest fishing news for locals.

The wet and windy weather seems to be disappearing slowly but surely, and that summer heat is finally starting to come through.

This is good news for local fishermen. During the summer months, most anglers will be trying their luck to get hooked onto some big edibles and non edibles (sharks and flatfish).

Along the South Coast, fishing has not been as successful lately due to the terrible weather. The water conditions haven’t been so grand either as the rivers opened into the sea, particularly in the mid-South Coast area, being around Umkomaas down to Rocky Bay.

Sources have confirmed that a few small flat fish and sharks have been caught recently. Hopefully in the week to come, the weather clears up completely and gives anglers a chance to have tight lines and screaming reels.
