Darts association ends 2023 with prizegiving

The clubs were also awarded for knock-outs, outstanding achievements for highest closes, 180s and 171s, and more.

The Port Shepstone and Districts Darts Association (PSDDA) closed off 2023 with a glamourous banquet and awards ceremony at the Andhra Sabha Hall in Marburg recently.

It was accolades all round for the winning players and clubs in the various tournaments and leagues played during the year.

The guest speaker, Sharlene Govender congratulated the association for its achievements and for celebrating its 46th annual banquet this year.

The awards were for a 3-a-side league sponsored by Status Panel Beaters and Spray Painters, which saw Crusaders A victorious, Jumperz A taking second position and Status A in third position.
Four other leagues were also played during the year.

The clubs were also awarded for knock-outs, outstanding achievements for highest closes, 180s and 171s, and more.

Pravin Sewraj of Jumperz was awarded for scoring 12 180s, eight 171s and a cup for winning the PSDDA 180 knock-out.

Runner-up was Clive Hurn of Status. Venesh Sewraj from Crusaders also had the most 171s tying with his brother Pravin. Anthony Moodley of Status was runner-up in the 171 cup knock-out.

A message from the president of PSDDA, Bupendra Prakash was read out in absentia.

Prakash said that PSDDA had another successful year, all thanks to the support of sponsors. He thanked the executive committee, especially Jewan Bowla, who has been the backbone of the organisation making sure that leagues and tournaments run smoothly and well organised, pushing the members to participate.

In his vote of thanks, Vasu Govender thanked guests, families, sponsors and clubs for making 2023 a success. He said as an association they are looking forward to a great and more successful 2024.
