Festive fun at challenge run

It was a busy but fun week for all.

Scottburgh Athletics Club (SAC) members participated in last weekend’s Illovo Sugar Christmas 15km Challenge, which is always a highlight on the running calendar.

Clubs dressed in festive attire and ran together, each with their own decorated float pushed or pulled through the hilly suburbs of Westville.

The support along the road was wonderful with residents coming out to watch the jovial clubs as they passed by.
Marshalls and water tables were on point as usual, and the athletes thank Westville Athletics Club for a most enjoyable, well organised run.

SAC trail runners also took part in the Upper Highway Trail Marathon (UHTM) last Saturday which offered both a 42km as well as a 17km route.

The UHTM is an iconic marathon which starts and finishes at Camp Orchards in Hillcrest, the trail run goes through the Everton Conservancy, Morewood MTB Park and a loop through the picturesque Krantz Kloof Nature Reserve.

Ewoud Grobler came in third in the men’s 42km.

The results for the SAC trail runners are as follows: 42km: Ewoud Grobler 04:57:04; Travers Pellew 05:47:20; Lindsay Albers 07:02:11; Tarryn Goble 08:10:37; Stellio Coutsides 08:24:37 and Terry Drummond 08:38:01.
Results for 17km: Garth Pellew 02:31:20; Tyron Seach 02:45:18; Dave Tredway 03:05:09; Donna Edmonds 03:08:37 and Vanessa Hattingh 03:33:13.

It was an exciting weekend indeed.
