Tamil federation’s golf fundraiser a success

This tournament was special as the Tamil Federation of KwaZulu-Natal dedicated this event to the legacy of the late Bobby Naidoo of the Port Shepstone Tamil Association.

After a long lay-off of three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tamil Federation of KwaZulu-Natal (TFKZN) hosted its fourth annual golf day fundraiser at the Umdoni Park Golf Club recently.

The weather looked threatening early on, but it turned out to be a beautiful day. The tournament attracted a field of over 100 keen golfers, including a few women golfers.

The keynote address was delivered by TFKZN trustee, Dan Moodaliyar who outlined the aims and objectives of the organisation, and how the funds are utilised in serving the community.

This tournament was special as the TFKZN dedicated this event to the legacy of the late Bobby Naidoo of the Port Shepstone Tamil Association, for his assistance and the pivotal role he played in initiating and convening their first golf day fundraiser. A beautifully framed citation was presented to his wife Dinah by the deputy president, Richard Govender.

“On behalf of my fellow trustees, I wish to acknowledge the tremendous time and effort by the new committee under the able leadership of president Devan Moodley and our 2023 golf convenor Sarge Kistasamy in making today’s event a huge success,” said Moodaliyar.

“Our fervent wish is for this synergy between the sponsors, golfers, volunteers, well-wishers, and others nationally and internationally to be strengthened, and we look forward to partnering with all to enable us to reach greater heights in serving our communities. Together, let us grow the TFKZN family.”

The tournament was enjoyed by all and TFKZN received heaps of praises for a well coordinated event. Golfers, sponsors and volunteers were treated to a sumptuous vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffet dinner, which included a delicious dessert.

Live entertainment was provided, and enjoyed by all, and prizes were also awarded to the golfers.
President of TFKZN, Gan Moodley said: “The TFKZN is full of gratitude and indebted to our sponsors, golfers, and volunteers for their continuous support in ensuring the success of our golf day fundraiser, and we hope to see you all again next year!”
