Scotties club preps for seniors

Golfers battled the heat at recent games.

Scottburgh Golf Club will be hosting the KZN Seniors monthly game on Tuesday, December 5.

It’s the first time this has happened and a real privilege to have these players here.

They take it seriously as ranking points towards team selection are on offer.

The game is open to all above the age of 50. If you would like to play, contact the club or get your name down on the board. Let’s make it a venue for them to remember.

Mike Eley and Roly Tickle were the sponsors for Wednesday’s betterball Stableford. Their contribution was very much appreciated.

The heatwave has persisted and there were some weary players that trooped into the bar afterwards.

John Mills and Wayne Simpson managed the heat best and, with 46 points, were declared winners.

Holders of the Stone cast off their woes and, with 45 points, Graham Brown and Geoff Thommasen claimed second spot.

Anton Visage and Nick Kloppers have taken over the mantle of Stone holders as, once again, they paid the piper. They’re now on a hat-trick so watch out for a bounce back.

KWV were the sponsors for Saturday’s monthly medal with TM Moodley and Nivash Mahabeer sponsoring the Alliance.

The A division players were all away or injured and so it was left to the B and C division players to fight it out.

In the B division TM won the best gross on a countout with 85 and Wayne Simpson took the nett with 72.

Johnny Bezuidenhout scored 35 points in the C division to win, with Graham Brown making a comeback second on 33.

Johnny was declared medalist for November with his 35 points reverting back to a 68 nett.

Winning the Alliance were John Mills, Wayne Simpson, Tony Power and Brian Richards with 85 points.

Anton Visage, for the third time, paid for the Stone along with Johnny Bezuidenhout Deane Jooste and Org Viviers.

Flyer’s footnote: Real golfers don’t miss putts, they’re robbed.
