Eagles persevere despite rain

The next Eagles game will be in December.

The Selborne Golf Club had an ominous look of rain last Thursday, all started and finished in light rain. The Village Eagles decided to continue with the game and all players on the list, bar six arrived for the game. Well done to all for attending and persevering.

The course was in magnificent condition and proved even more challenging with the weather. We had 74 players, the highest number for the year and with plenty of water from above and around the course produced a very high lost ball count of 216.

The longest day (from left) Henry Hampson, Dave Geils and Carl Mau. (Absent: Brian Richards)

Best lady was Pearl Lloyd on 44 individual points and Allen Behrendt took the men’s prize on 42 points. The winners on the day were Kas van der Merwe, Sarel Swart, Patrick Sheehan and Fred van Prooijen on an alliance score of 92 points. The longest day and collecting the Stones Trophy was Brian Richards, Carl Mau, Henry Hampson and Dave Geils on 75 points.

Best man Allen Behrendt.

The results were calculated by Stan Sim, Trevor Bell, Eddie Mathews and Alistair Eyres… I thank you all for the effort. Eddie Mathews presented the results, and this went without a hitch. On the fines side, Jeremy Boyd was the master and this was well supported.

Our next game will be held at Umdoni Park Golf Club on December 5 and that is also the date for the year-end dinner and dance. See you all there.

STAN SIM
