Padel power for Sheppie

There was a festive vibe on the day.

Port Shepstone Country Club officially opened its two Padel courts last Sunday. It’s a game that is growing rapidly and proving popular.

Four of the province’s top 10 ranked players attended, namely Byron Matzner, Rory Hassall, Fabrice Roscoe and Shaun Matzner. They played an exhibition match and gave some coaching during the day.

Wayne Beekman has been one of the driving forces behind the project. “We’re thrilled to see such an enthusiastic turnout for the Sheppie Padel Club launch. It truly showcased the sport’s appeal across all ages and skill levels. It’s a fantastic family activity, and we warmly invite anyone interested to join the fun,” he said.

There was a festive vibe on the day, with fun for the children as well, in the form of a jumping castle, mini soccer and other activities.
