Trail runners achieve fantastic results

Several Scottburgh athletes participated in this event.

The Karkloof Trail Series is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

The series is made up of six races, and features one of South Africa’s premier 100 miler and took place at the Karkloof Country Club in Howick on September 22-24.

Scottburgh was presented by a few runners this year. Two runners took part in their first 100 miler event and achieved fantastic results. Ricky Hulley finished in 28 hours and 29 minutes and 12th overall. Brett Louw finished in 30 hours and 49 minutes and 24th overall.

In the 50 miler, Daina-Lee Osborne finished in 11 hours and 19 minutes and was third woman in this category. Lindsay Albers finished in 12 hours and 18 minutes and Stellio Coutsides in 14 hours and 29 minutes.

The 30 miler was completed by Tyron Seach in 10 hours. Cassidy Atkins finished the 20 miler in 5 hours and 20 minutes.

The Scottburgh athletes give a big thank you to all the seconders and supporters on route who made this possible and supported the runners back home through the day and night.
