Petes battle it out in Friday 5 pin

Don't forget - this Saturday is the late Heno Gradwell's birthday bash.

With Org Viviers in such fine form, it was no surprise that he once again took first place in last Wednesday’s individual Stableford with 36 points at Scottburgh Golf Club.

Brian Richards who is always there or thereabouts ran Org close but had to settle for second place with 35.
Geoff Thommasen picked up the only 2 club and TM Moodley found the hidden holes. TM’s playing partner Thay Govender has taken a fancy to our Stone and once again he paid for its upkeep.

It was Pete versus Pete in our Friday 5 pin. Pete Gilliver and Pete Morris battled it out with both scoring 10 points, Pete Morris losing the count out and Pete Gilliver’s better half Hayley just one behind (no pun intended) took third with 9. With springtime gaining momentum the Friday afternoon 5 pin is becoming more attractive, especially at only R30 to play.

KWV are our sponsors for the monthly medal and this month TM and Nivash Mahabeer sponsored the Alliance. Taking the A division gross in a ferocious Sou’easter was Jason Gilliver just back from captaining the KZN Inter Provincial team with 77, Liam Parker-Dennison took the nett with 73.

TM our co-Alliance sponsor was rewarded by winning the best gross in B division with 83 and Steven Myburgh took the nett with 76. Byron Stander scored 38 points to win the C division with Brian Richards in second place with 33, Byron’s 38 converted back to 67 nett and was medallist for September.

Morne van Eck found the hidden holes and Russel Freeman rolled in the solitary 2 club which seems harder to find than the hidden holes of late. Thay Govender really ‘smaaks’ the Stone as he and TM with Dave Meredith and Spoekie picked up the Stone.

It’s a betterball Stableford this Wednesday (4th) and Saturday (7th) is the big one. The late Heno Gradwell’s birthday bash is a betterball Stableford and the list is filling up for his remembrance competition put together by his family.

Spring treatment begins Sunday (8th) and the course will be closed until Friday. The captain reminds everybody leaving before prizegiving to enter their names in the apologies book – no name, no prize.

Flyer’s footnote: On practice, if you’re not prepared, somewhere in the quiz there’s going to be some questions you can’t answer.
