Golfers play to benefit children

The day ended up being a resounding success.

The Give a Child a Family Africa golf day teed off at Margate Country Club last Friday.
The day was a resounding success, with golfers helping raise funds towards the care of children in need.

Format was a scramble drive and the winners were Flip Fourie and Joe Espach on 54 points, counting out Barend Joubert and Dawn Howden.

Four pairs tied on 52 points, namely Jaco van der Walt and Chris Nel, Poen Olivier and Johann Erasmus, Juan Dixon and Ettiene du Plessis, as well as George Nagel and Allan Halvorsen.

Nearest the pin: Kevin du Toit (2nd), Allan Halvorsen (4th), Jakes du Plessis (5th for two), Juan Dixon (8th) and George Nagel (18th for two).

Longest drive on 3rd – Jakes du Plessis and Dawn Howden.

In regular club news, the 100 Club last Tuesday was won by Schalk Oosthuizen on 42 points, with Angus McLachlan next on 36 points.

The meat competition last Thursday was won by Flip Fourie on 39 points, counting out Joe Espach.
Saturday’s competition was won on 42 points by Thys Bothma, one ahead of Hans Beilhartz.

The Wobblers’ game last Wednesday was won by Thys Bothma, Johan Human and Dave Boyd on 80 points.
They counted out Freddie Boshoff, Nico van Vuuren and Alan Davies.
In third place on 78 points were Hans Beilhartz, Frank Merrill and Eddie Gommersall.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Bob Weanie, André Henn and Dave Morrison on 73 points
