New cycle race soon

There will be two distances raced, 90km and 45km.

Registration is open for the inaugural South Coast Cycle Tour, organised by MD24, set to take place on the South Coast on Sunday, October 8.

The race will start at the Boulevard Centre in Shelly Beach at 06:30. It will finish at St Mike’s beach.
There will be two distances raced, 90km and 45km.

Riders in the 90km race will start at the Boulevard Centre and head south to Seaslopes Road, going past Margate Country Club.

Here they will turn around and go back down Seaslopes, riding along Marine Drive, north-bound, passing Shelly Beach and heading towards Hibberdene where they will turn around and use the same route back to St Mike’s beach, which is where the finish will be.

In the 45km event, riders will start from the Boulevard Centre, and head towards Port Shepstone, turn around near Anerley and head back to St Mike’s.
Water/snack stations will be available near the turnaround points at Anerley and Hibberdene.
Riders will be able to take in the beautiful views of the coastline along the way.

Prize-money (90km): 1st R6000, 2nd R4000, 3rd R1500.
