Golfers spring into action

The latest Scottburgh golfing news and results.

Women’s Day, last Wednesday saw a few ladies playing golf with the men. The rest stayed at home with their feet up having earned a day’s rest.

However, it was the men who took the honours with Russel Freeman and Liam Parker-Dennison winning on a score of 45 to out do captain Bob Hall and Roly Tickle on the same score.

The hidden holes are proving difficult to find, but Hayley Gilliver got one for the ladies as she was the only one to find a 2 club and a substantial payday. Not content with that, she and Lauren Davey took the spoils and side bets from husband Pete and Pete’s mate Pete Morris.

Geoff Thommasen was still thinking about his recent win and not paying too much attention to things so he and Graham Brown were called up to pay for the Stone’s upkeep.

There was a three way count out for last Friday’s five pin with Les Huddle taking the top prize over Steve Abramson in second and Tony Moore third. There was a good turnout for a very pleasant afternoon and with spring on the way it bodes good for every Friday.

The P& G Construction day last Saturday was similarly well attended albeit with a bit of an August breeze. Simon Cubitt having taken some lessons from Luke and Jack was supported by Patrick Palmer for a win with 44 points.

Runners-up also with 44 were the Stone’s recent holders Geoff Thommasen and Graham Brown. Third place went to Barry Kisten and Doc Heera Mahabeer with 43. Hidden holes escaped everyone but a plethora of 2 clubs with Barry Kisten, Mikael van Braken, Graham Brown, Clyde Leisagang and Kashlin. Only one honest nearest the pin went to Mikael with the rest going as lucky draws, the recipients enjoying bottles of wine were Barry Kisten, Simon Cubitt and Drav.

Today (Wednesday) is an individual getting us ready for Halfway Toyota’s Combined Stableford this Saturday (19th).
