Selborne edges ahead in league

The league is coming down to the wire.

Selborne Park Golf Club league team holds a half-point lead in the Southern KZN handicap league.
This after Adrian van Vuuren’s men beat Umdoni Park B 9,5-2,5 at Margate.

The Selborne team comprised Adrian, Darryl Herman, Wayne Scrooby, Elson Chibura, Brendan de Lacy, Andrew Sharp, Myles Poole and Julius Dlamini.

It means they have eight log points (four wins and one loss) with 37 match points.

Southbroom A is second, also with eight log points (also four wins and one loss) but with 36,5 match points. They edged Port Shepstone 7-5.

Southbroom B is the only other team which can catch either of these two. They beat Margate 8-4 and now have six log points but have a game in hand. Their match points total is 29 so they have to ‘win big’.

There are two fixtures remaining – at Port Shepstone Country Club on September 17 (rescheduled from September 10), and then the last one at Umdoni Park on October 22.

At Port Shepstone, Umdoni B play Margate, Southbroom B face hosts Port Shepstone and Southbroom A take on Umdoni A. Selborne have a bye, so will have to watch and wait.
The final round sees Selborne play Margate, Southbroom B against hosts Umdoni A and Umdoni B facing Port Shepstone.

Southbroom A have a bye and it will be their turn to see how matches unfold, provided of course they get a win against Sheppie in the next round.
