Poen and Co clinch business day win

There's been a fair amount on the go at the club this past week.

There were some superb scores at the Business Day Alliance at Margate Country Club recently. Winners, on 99 points, were Poen Olivier, Johann Erasmus, Suzette Olivier and Pierre Malherbe. Runners-up were Barend Joubert, Arthur Ehlert, Riaan Naude and Elvis Khawula on 93 points. Nearest the pins were J van Lil (2nd) and Sandi Johnston (11th).

The club Meat Compo last Saturday was won on 40 points by Arthur Ehlert, with Hans Beilhartz next on 39 points. Nearest the pins were Kim Howden (16th) and Graeme Massam (4th).

The ladies’ three-ball alliance last Tuesday was won on 81 points by Dawn Howden, Connie McArthur and Lizzie Meyer. They counted out Hannetjie Pretorius, Sandi Johnston and Una McLachlan. The ladies’ KZNLGA Medal & Putt last Saturday saw Dawn Howden take top honours in the silver division on 95 gross, nett 77. Wilna Olkers was second on gross 96, nett 87.

Bronze division honours went to Connie McArthur on gross 101, nett 70. Runner-up was Anneke Mulder on gross 95, nett 72. Grace Fourie had the only two-club and the putting prize was shared by Suzette Olivier and Connie McArthur, on 30.

Sixteen Wobblers rolled up for last Wednesday’s game. Winners on 86 points were Freddie Boshoff, Alan Davies and Dave Morrison. Runners-up on 85 points were André Henn, Brian Jefferys and Frank Merrill. The Arthur Tomlinson Floater, on 75 points, went to Rod O’Farrell, Thys Bothma and Hans Beilhartz. Nearest the pin on the 11th was Hans Beilhartz.
