Bob Hall re-elected captain at Scottburgh GC

Scottburgh Golf Club's latest news and results.

So now we have another official language – hand signing for the deaf. Golfers around the world have been signing for years.
Hand and arm waving left – big hook; hand and arm waving right – power fade. As for putting, the thumb between the first two fingers for a lip out and of course the V or middle finger sign for sarcastic remarks from opponents.

Last Wednesday’s individual was a return to the table for John Mills and his 35 points running Mike Eley into second spot with 34. Of hidden holes and 2 clubs none here to report. However, Deane Jooste paid the price for his low scoring once again.
It was monthly medal time again last Saturday (my how time flies) with Pete Gilliver and Nivash Mahabeer also playing the A division matchplay final. Pete completing the double as he overcame Nivash as in the Strokeplay event.

Pete then took the A division best gross with 70 and Nivash the nett with 76. TM Moodley had an 82 for the gross in B division with Org Viviers taking the nett with 68 after a count out.
Anton Visage returned to winning form after a couple of weeks lifting the Stone with 39 points in the C division followed by Rascal Freeman on 36. Anton’s 65 nett was the winning score of the day and the medal.
Not content with that Anton also undid the mystery of the hidden holes, but still no 2 clubs…square holes perhaps? Winning the Alliance sponsored by TM and Thay Govender were the President’s team of Ian Walker, Anton Visage, Gary Jones and Patrick Palmer on 88 points.

The AGM was held last Tuesday and Bob Hall was re-elected as captain with Mikael van Brakel as his vice. Ian Walker and Colin Moodie retain the president and vice positions. Good luck and all the best to Bob and his committee for the ensuing year.

Wednesday is an individual with the Umthunzi Hotel sponsored day on Saturday.

Flyer’s footnote: There is nothing like a game of golf to get your mind off everything. They say that you can get so mad at yourself you forget to hate your enemies.
