Soccer tournament comes to Scottburgh this weekend

A local recovery organisation hopes to educate people through sport.

Education and excitement will combine at a grand soccer tournament highlighting addiction awareness in Scottburgh this weekend.

The Laqhakaza Iphara Recovery organisation will be hosting the sports event in hopes of making the local youth and their parents see that taking part in a sport is just one of the many ways in which one can distract themselves from addicting substances/activities.

“We will communicate with the locals and pass the message of recovery by using sport as a medium,” said the recovery centre’s chairman, Emmanuel Msomi.

Emmanuel and his team previously held a sports tournament similar to this two years ago in Amandawe which was a great success.

The soccer tournament is scheduled for Saturday (July 22) at Scottburgh High School at 09:00. To find out more, contact 079 9952023.
