Glorious golfing in Scotties

Saturday is a sponsored game.

After the extremely cold weather we got on Monday, some decided to lay low. Those that did missed a glorious afternoon’s golf played in great conditions.

Surprisingly, the Stableford scores were exceptionally low. ‘Couldn’t putt’, ‘couldn’t chip’ , ‘couldn’t get out the bunker’ were some of the comments, or feeble excuses, as John Mills won with a paltry 33 points.
John was also playing his matchplay against Graham Brown who finished second with 31.
Captain Bob Hall has never heard of such low scores. John also took a 2-club along with Org Viviers and TM Moodley.

Roly Tickle had all the excuses as he paid his customary R10 for the Stone’s upkeep.
Saturday the sun came out again and the ‘stay-a-beds’ got up and out and about for the Halfway Toyota combined Stableford, looking for an in-form partner.

At the same time some were playing their matchplay which is progressing well.
Coenie du Bruin was one of the matchplayers and he won his game, then was assisted by Herman Grotius in winning the competition on 70 points.

Thay Govender and TM Moodley finished five adrift on 65 for second place with Darryl Govender and Thava coming third with 64.

The ‘not too shabby’ 2-club pool was shared equally by Russel Freeman and John Mills (again!).
Deane Jooste, who has been collecting quite a few nearest the pins of late, picked up the Stone with Tony Moore to help him.

Wednesday is a betterball, the same as Saturday which will be graciously sponsored by TM Moodley and Thay Govender.

Flyer’ s footnote: Golf is a science, the study of a lifetime in which you may exhaust yourself but never your subject.
