Hard work pays off for kareteka

The event was held in Pennington.

It was an exciting and successful night for local karate enthusiasts at a recent grading event held at the Ippon Dojo at Relton Hall, Pennington.
Grading is done every four months.

The juniors were graded double yellow stripe and the older juniors were given a full yellow belt and for the seniors it was orange, blue and purple belts. Everyone did well and the audience was mesmerised by the outstanding performances given.

Sensei Stephen Kentridge, chief instructor of Sandan affiliated to SKISA (Shotokan Karate-do International South Africa) and World Karate Federation practising the oldest traditional karate Shotokan established in 1939, was exceptionally proud of the locals too.

For those unaware, SKISA Shotokan is an Olympic recognised sport.
