Parkrun number 250 for super septuagenarian Gill

Over the years Gill Gibbs has run at nine different parkrun locations.

Gill Gibbs is a well-known South Coaster. Her family owned White Sands Hotel (now Drift Sands Hotel) in Uvongo when she was a teenager and she spent many hours on that particular beach.

Uvongo has been her stomping ground so it’s no surprise that Uvongo parkrun became close to her heart.
Gill’s first parkrun was on May 2, 2015. On Saturday, May 27, 2023, she celebrated her 70th birthday… and what better way to celebrate this milestone than by running her 250th parkrun.

Gill lives in Paddock, but come rain, shine or gale-force wind, she won’t miss driving to St Michael’s beach to do the parkrun every Saturday.

Over the years Gill has run at nine different locations, but her favourite course is what she would call her home turf, Uvongo.
Her average time is 41,48 minutes.

Her personal best time, thus far, is 36:44 minutes which was at Uvongo on March 24, 2018. Her best overall position has been 24th.

Gill’s most parkruns in a year was in 2019 when she managed to run 45. The total distance of 1250km which Gill has run since starting her first parkrun is not a mean feat.
Uvongo parkrun relies on volunteers. It is run every Saturday at 08:00.

The start and finish is at St Michael’s beach on the grass patch.
