Jean and Sandy crowned champions

The recent rains have given the course a beautiful green look.

The popular Southbroom Golf Club Ladies Classic went off in fine style, as usual.
Winners were locals Jean Cole and Sandy FitzGerald on 81 points.

Lynne Blackstock and Lee Varrie claimed second place on 79 points, counting out Solange Fox and Gwyneth Wright.
Fourth spot went to Jill O’Callaghan and Eli Bachmann on 78 points, counting out Wendy Counihan and Binny Stephen.
In sixth place were Ilse Farrell and Karen Dengler on 76 points.
Seventh went to Morag Magnussen and Tracey Mills on 75 points.
In eighth place were Trish Amm and Precious Mkhungo on 74 points.
Ninth spot went to Nicci Steyn and Tessa Granger on 73 points, counting out Irene Schanda and Shelley Myers.

In regular golf, the Pam Quarmby Trophy was won on 89 points by Candida Amm, Rene Matthew, Irene Schanda and Shelley Myers.
Runners-up were Annie Bruwer, Heleen Hissey, Sue Kupisiewics and Liz Brown on 74 points.
Third place went to Karen Bridgeford, Les Godley, Lynne Blackstock and Allyson Thomas on 72 points.
The men’s alliance was won by Bruce Matthew, Derek Oelofse, Roger Hissey and Roy Deakins on 88 points.
Runners-up were Gary Purtell, Nicky Smith, Ant Hughes and Brian Blackstock on 86 points.

Friday’s open day was played as alliance, with two to count, but three on the par threes.
Winners were members of the visiting Fourie group, namely Leon, Morne, Clarens and Ruben, on 92 points.
Runners-up on 86 points were Jaco van der Wal, Piet Fourie, JP and Jason Destamy.
Saturday’s alliance was won on 86 points by Sue Kupisiewicz, Michelle van der Hoek, Sharon Turnbull-Jackson and Candida Amm.
Runners-up were Don Osbourn, Bob O’Callaghan, Alex and Ken Crawford, on 83 points.
