Good turnout for monthly medal at Umkomaas

New players are always welcome at the club.

The monthly medal competition was once again well supported with 61 players competing across six divisions – three men’s and three ladies.
A division was won by Rob Griffiths on 37 points, with Jacques Hulley counting out Kevesh Seepershad for second place on 36 points.
B division was won by Mike Flack on an impressive 39 points, with Barry Taylor counting out Graeme Coxell for second place with 38 points. Mike Flack’s nett 67 was also enough to secure him the top honours of the Monthly Mug.
C division was hotly contested and Keith Vergottini emerged victorious over Rodney Rob with a count-out securing him first place on 34 points.

The ladies also competed, for the first time, across three divisions. A division was won on count-out by Heather Parsonage who beat out Evija McKelvey on nett 76.
B division was won by Sue Boucher on an excellent 3-under par nett 70. This excellent score also saw Sue crowned ladies monthly glass winner. And for the first time, our C division ladies competed in a Stableford competition with Nadia McPherson winning on an excellent 38 points. Well done ladies!

The first Allerton league match took place at Cotswold Downs and saw the Umkomaas gents take on rivals from Kloof. The game was hard fought, with several matches going all the way down the last hole. Unfortunately, Umkomaas lost 7-5 but the men can be very proud of their performance on a tough course. The gents also looked very smart in their new league shirts, well done captain Russel McKelvey for organising these.
It’s holiday time once again, and one of the best times of year to enjoy golf on our beautiful South Coast.
