Major surf champs for St Mike’s

Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate bags two exciting events.

The biggest amateur surfing event – the Tidy Towns South African Surfing Championships – is to be held at St Michaels on Sea from May 16 to 21.

The contest, presented by Ugu Surfriders, will draw the best of the country’s open and masters surfing divisions to St Mike’s, which is a popular destination for swimming and surfing.

Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate has been instrumental in bringing about much positive change and growth to the area.
Tidy Towns, in conjunction with Ugu Surfriders, hosted the SA Masters Surfing Championships last year and such was its success that the main event will be held at St Mike’s, as well as the Masters.

Surfers and fans will descend on the coast at what is usually a fantastic time to visit weather-wise.
It’s a boost for the local economy and will help keep the region on the map, both in terms of surfing and tourism.
Reg Horne of Tidy Towns said the highly successful 2022 event set a new benchmark and that this year’s is being touted as one not to be missed, bringing national competitors, their families and spectators to our coast.

“The best of the best from all provinces, many of whom have surfed both internationally and professionally, will be going head-to-head for the coveted titles. This national sporting event is a great opportunity for brand exposure for our sponsors. Don’t miss the opportunity to become a sponsor and showcase your brand. We would welcome your support,” he said.
