Umtamvuna Surf Lifesaving Club Nippers took part in the Southern KZN Nipper Champs last Sunday, and boy, did they clean up rather nicely.
The champs were hosted by Scottburgh SLC and held last Sunday, with conditions not the best thanks to the heat and unfavourable surf.
Despite all this, the five Umtamvuna SLC members managed to medal in the various events for their respective age groups.
In the Under 11 & 12 category, Keagan Ramos won eight golds and a bronze.
Emma Burger secured three golds, three silver and two bronze.
Jordan Orsmond managed one gold, three silver and two bronze.
In the Under 13 & 14 category Kaitlyn Ramos won three gold, one silver and two bronze.
Kylie Best gathered five gold, two silver and one bronze.
Nippers take place at Glenmore beach every Sunday from 11:00 to 13:00.
All those between eight and 14 years old are welcome. There is also Micro-Nippers for children between the ages of five and seven.
