Usual suspects in A division win monthly medal

On Wednesday is a betterball Stableford.

St.Clement was in a vexacious mood this week as his wrath descended on the golfing fraternity for last Wednesday’s and Saturday’s games, the weather was decidedly ‘inclement’.

Those not finishing either day were called up to express their remorse with a R10 note. Winning Wednesday’s individual Stableford was TK Moodley with 33 points followed by Alwyn Stander with 29, scores usually reserved for Stone Last which however, went to Gary Odendaal.

Those of us who suffered on Wednesday were in for a repeat as the Sou’Wester blew up early on Saturday. They also thought they would be ‘acclimatised’ after Wednesday.

The Local Choice/Dischem monthly medal was the game to be played with a well attended field. The usual suspects in the A division Pete Gilliver and Barry Kisten come to the fore winning the best gross (76) and nett (71) respectively.

In the B division Kevin Ramkisson took the gross with 84 and Graham Brown the nett with 68 which proved to be the medal winning score for November. In the C division Alwyn Stander managed 33 points to win over Denis Brown’s 29 for runner-up. Leon van Zyl found the hidden holes with Ian Walker and Pete Morris rolling in 2 clubs.

Spoekie our irritating ghost brought along his pal Caspar to make the Alliance winners with Alwyn and Byron Stander with 85 points. Stone Last went to Brian Richards, Denis Brown. Wayne Stander and TK Moodley.

The list for Saturday’s borehole fundraiser is full and the list is on the board for the 12 ‘o’ clock ‘high noon’ shotgun start. Today (23rd) is a betterball Stableford.

Flyer’s footnote: If there’s nae rain and there’s nae wind then it’s nae gowf – an old Scottish proverb.
