Volleyball club thankful for sponsorship

Volleyball club ever so grateful to Status Panelbeaters for their contribution and generosity towards sport and social development.

Sideout Volleyball Club started eight years ago as Rising Stars VC and then changed its name to Sideout VC four years ago.

In the last three years the team of aspiring volleyballers increased from one to four teams registered under the Port Shepstone Volleyball Association.

The Sideout’s senior ladies team won the 2021 league title and all local knockout titles last year. This year the team took part in the KwaZulu-Natal Aqua Darshan Premier League in Durban against the best teams in KZN and the team proudly took third position. Last year Sideout Volleyball Club was ranked first in the local league.

In their new kit are (back, from left) Ian Rajagopal (manager), Nalini Reddiar, Pravashnie Rajagopal, Mona Harrichand, Nisha Maharaj, Nadene Sholayan, Jacqueline Chetty, Jolene Chetty, Deon Chetty (coach) with Adaline Rungasamy, Terelle Godden, Teneal Godden and Alka Jaganath in front.

Showcasing such talent and commitment in KZN and locally, the club now has two junior teams.
Club manager, Pravashnie Rajagopal said: “We are grateful for the generosity and community-spirited thinking of businesses such as Status Panelbeaters and other businesses for supporting our club this year. Sideout ladies team thanks Gerhard Steyn and Status Panelbeaters for their generosity towards our club this year. We are grateful to them for their kit sponsor, caps, bags and banners, as well as bottles of water on our tournament days.”

She added that they look forward to the continued support from generous businessman such as Gerhad Steyn and pray that they can continue to build meaningful corporate social responsibility partnerships with Status Panelbeaters and other business houses.

The club will be hosting its first major fundraiser event, a golf day on November 20 and the club’s year end awards evening will be held on November 26.
