Down, but not out for Comrades runners

The popular ultra marathon was run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban this year.

Hard makes it great. These were the words uttered by South Coast Striders running captain, Emmanuel Mufamadi, at this year’s Comrades Marathon.

Arthur Flascas remains focused.

The global event took place last Sunday, being a down run this year, finishing at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Just what the doctors ordered – Dr Piet de Bruin and Dr Adeline Jacobs at the finish.

South Coast Striders had 31 members who took part, with 23 of them managing to cross the finish line.

Ugu Athletics Club had 12 who made it to Durban from Pietermaritzburg, with some not starting, or having to stop on the way.

Heinrich Lotz keeps a steady pace.
