Three amateur boxers turn pro

Their first pro-circuit fight will be in Gauteng in April this year.

The South Coast can be ‘super proud’ of three boxers who received their pro-boxing licences recently.

Jordan Pearce, Hendry Omedowa and Nasiphi Vellem, from Box360 Movement, are officially now the first amateur boxers on the coast to turn professional.

Some 200 boxers from around KwaZulu-Natal descended on Knucklegame Boxing Academy in Durban.
However, only 25 amateur boxers made the cut and were awarded their pro licence.

Coach Roland van Rooyen of Box360 couldn’t be more delighted for the three young men.

“The three arrived at Box360 two years ago, without any boxing experience. I coached them from scratch and the hard work and hours of training have certainly paid off,” he said.

“It’s a big achievement for the South Coast and definitely a reward for a lot of hard work, discipline and dedication.” he said.

What does this mean, in a nutshell? It means Jordan, Hendry and Nasiphi can now fight for money.

Their first pro-circuit fight will be in Gauteng in April this year.
It’s exciting times for these fighters.
