Paddlers bring A-game to annual surfski race

The annual surfski race in Scottburgh was enjoyed by all.

Paddlers from far and wide headed down to Scottburgh main beach last Saturday for the annual Scottburgh to Brighton surfski ultra marathon.

Gauteng’s Riccardo Talevi and St. Francis paddler Phillip Smith brought their A-games to the race which earned the duo first place.

Paddler Brent Chiazzari also had bragging rights for placing first, but in the singles ski category.

Part of the Scottburgh to Brighton race included a compulsory beach stop at Amanzimtoti.

The weather made things a little more challenging with a typical winter offshore wind switching to a headwind at times.

Regardless of this, paddlers enjoyed the race overall.
