Village Eagles soar at monthly challenge

After the bad weather that the South Coast has experienced lately, it was so good but not surprising to see how well the greenkeeping staff have managed to get Scottburgh GC in such good condition.

An American and a South African walk into a pub. You know where I am going with this don’t you?

The American says “in America we drive on the right of the road”. The South African says “in South Africa we drive on what’s left of the road”.

Luckily Eagles can fly so even though they had to negotiate road closures, sinkholes and potholes they all arrived on time to tee off for the monthly Village Eagles Golf Challenge, this month held at Scottburgh Golf Course (GC).

After the bad weather that the South Coast has experienced lately, it was so good but not surprising to see how well the greenkeeping staff have managed to get Scottburgh GC in such good condition.

Not only that, but thanks must go to the management for their excellent hosting of the Village Eagles. The weather also came to the party and to say that the conditions for golf were perfect would be an understatement.

As is the game of golf some players enjoyed the conditions more than others, and winning the first prize on an alliance score of 90 points were Les Vince, Stan Sim, Bill Oliver and Trevor Bell.

They will be back at Scottburgh to enjoy a round of golf that was kindly sponsored by our hosts – thank you Scottburgh.

Best lady golfer was Cathy Kamstra and best man went to Kas van der Merwe (no joke).

The Stone Last Trophy is one that is really sought after so I am not sure why the Bald Eagle keeps getting death threats when the names of the winners are published. The team members who took the trophy home were Robbie Bruce, Pippa Bruce, Alistair Eyres and Stella Scott. None of them know where I live.

We all look forward to visiting Selborne Golf Club next month.
