Every Saturday: Fitness and fun at parkrun

Participants may dress in whatever clothes they are comfortable in and may participate in whichever way they choose.

Runners, joggers, walkers and spectators are invited to be part of the East Coast Brewery parkrun every Saturday morning outside the entrance to the East Coast Brewing Company restaurant in Ilfracombe at 08:00.

These events are only 5km with an objective of not having to use a route on public roads, but to instead get out into nature for health benefits and spiritual and mental welfare.

The East Coast Brewery parkrun opened in November last year, replacing Umdoni parkrun.

Many describe the event as a welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last.

There is also a tail walker who comes in behind everyone else to ensure their safety.

“There are so many reasons to take part,” said Gail Keevy, event director.

“You can learn new skills and enhance your health and happiness in the great outdoors whilst making new friends, feeling part of your local community and improving your fitness.”

The East Coast Brewery parkrun team welcome all to join them every Saturday.

Registration is free and once-off. Participants will then be emailed a unique parkrun barcode with a personal ID that allows them to keep track of their parkrun participation.

The barcode must be carried along when attending parkruns and can be reused every week, at any parkrun event anywhere in the world.

Participants may dress in whatever clothes they are comfortable in and may participate in whichever way they choose.
