Warriors in fine form, juniors struggle

The team encountered a strict referee and so a high level of discipline was required. The players stuck to their structures and it resulted in an emphatic victory.

The South Coast Warriors took on the Jaguars in Durban in a First Division South rugby fixture last Friday night.

The second team, playing first, got off to a slow start, letting in two early tries.

However, flyhalf Theo Nicholls took control of the game and the team stepped up several gears, scoring 10 tries, playing beautiful running rugby.

In the process they conceded two soft tries but it hardly mattered as they won 62-20.

Tries were scored by Wessel Strydom, Theo Nicholls, Keegan Barry, Sphe Mbili (2), Mardu Pretorius, Tyreek Naicker, Jason Kobben, Kgotso, Michael Helmand. There were six conversions.

The first team game was completely dominated by the Warriors, with a winning score of 35-3.

They ran in five unanswered tries, which were all converted by Daryn Nyman.

The next game is a home one, at Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground, against Ballito.

Tries were scored by Gareth Pieterse, Jade Nyman, Lunga Madlala, Josh Walden and Rudi Steyn.

The Warriors U7 and U11 youth teams travelled to Durban on Sunday.

There were only three boys from the U7s so they joined up with Hillcrest U7 to combine as a team.

Players were Eli Quinn, Luan Holtzhauzen and Connor Forbes.

They played three games, with one draw and two wins. Luan scored four tries in the three mini matches.

Later, the U11s had a difficult afternoon facing Hillcrest U11A.

Despite putting up a brave fight, they conceded seven tries and only crossed the line once, the final score being 42-7.
