Busy weekend for Scotties athletes

Many runners participated in the Stella World of Sports race in the various distances offered from 5km to 25km.

The Scottburgh Athletics Club had a very busy and eventful weekend.

Chantal Bromwich ran the Hippo Marathon in Richards Bay and finished in an excellent time of 4:09, securing her qualification for the Comrades.

Tamsin Laight did the Pineapple Express 12km on the South Coast, which is mostly tight beach running.

Then there were many Scotties runners at the Stella World of Sports race in the various distances offered from 5km to 25km.

At that race, Msawenkosi Nyuswa finished the rough 25km route in 2:00:27. Louis Nel, Minette McCabe, Elouise Jones, Janeen Botha, Dana Daniels, Njabulo Khumalo, Lungelo Zama, Chelsea Jones, Lance van Niekerk and youngest member Katy Jones with her dad Steven Jones ran the 5km.

It was a very wet run with athletes running through pools of water in the pouring rain, but fun was had by all and the Scottburgh athletes were welcomed at the finish by their supporters at their gazebo with breakfast ready.
