Fun bowls, down by the river side

Their visit from upcountry is always a fun occasion, with wonderful camaraderie.

Local bowlers welcomed a visiting group from Vereeniging at Margate BC last week.

The visitors were from a club, coincidentally, named Riverside, like the club based in Uvongo.

They played social games against the hosts, as well as a combined team from Port Edward.

Their visit from upcountry is always a fun occasion, with wonderful camaraderie.

The winning team comprised Franci Philpott, Ron Vink, Gerhard Balzer and Raban Pillay.

Runners-up were Tiens Zietsman, Deon van Schalkwyk, HugoPio and Kobie Richie.

The bowls proved to be a whole lot of fun.

In regular news at Margate BC, the Food Lover’s Market Open Pairs was won by Brian Dieroff and Donovan Mulder.Runners-up were Alan Gibson and Trevor Heywood.

Session went to Deon van Schalkwyk and Edith Button. 50/50 winner was Gerhard Balzer.

Meanwhile, at Umtentweni BC, the Harbourview Superspar Mixed Pairs bowls competition was won by Dumisani Madlala and Nellie Davies.

Runners-up were Peter and Jill von Brandis. Session prize went to Albert van Niekerk and Karen Delaney.
