Meanwhile, the Umtamvuna Surf Lifesaving Club held its under 11 and 12 division of KZN champs on Saturday, at Addington beach.

A total of six nippers competed against seven other clubs.

The Lifesaving Series comprised of Landon Windvogel (left), Mlondi Jula, Robert Orsmond (Team manager) and Blessing Ndlovu.

The surf races were rather grueling, with a rip current that kept pulling them to the right, requiring extra effort from the swimmers.

With that said, the club still managed to obtain superb results.

Kayde Orsmond (U11) achieved gold in the body board race, he placed sixth in the board race, fifth in the surf swim, fifth in the run/swim/run and fourth in the flags.

Despite being injured in the very beginning of the day, Kayde still managed to compete in every race but eventually had to be pulled out of the flag event by paramedics.

Kayde Orsmond gave it his all throughout the day despite his injury, and achieved gold in the body board race.

The last time Umtamvuna partook in this event was over 10 years ago, so swimmers had no idea what to expect.
