Bowlers ease into new year

The hot weather tended to put off many and the normal tabs-in fixtures were not too well attended.

THERE was quite a lot going on as the club entered 2020.

The hot weather did however detract from many from playing this early in the season.

The first of the monthly competitions got underway with the men’s 2-4-2 played last Thursday.

It was fairly well attended with practically two full greens of players.

The winners were Mike Harvey and Keith Findlay (from AMBC) with a score of 4+22, and they won vouchers for Scottburgh Country Club.

The runners-up were the local side of Bill Mason and Tony Marot with 4+15 and they took away vouchers from Scott Street Pharmacy.

Second session winners this month was again from SBC, and was David Mustard and John Davison with 2+18, and they won vouchers from Scotties Tuck Shop and Tea Deck.

A series of great games will be remembered as will a number of complaints about sore muscles.

The hot weather tended to put off many and the normal tabs-in fixtures were not too well attended.

The main competitions of January are the mixed 2-4-2 this Friday (17th) and, of course, the famous Midway Toyota Scottburgh Fifth, scheduled for January 29 in the afternoon.

This is a mixed trips numbers format competition. It is a lot of fun but remember please only one skip per team.

Please remember that it is very hot and humid at this time of year so take plenty of liquids and fluids, and take care out there.

Keep taking the grass.
