‘Another good year comes to an end’

There was a fairly good turnout for the club’s prize giving which followed immediately after the Thursday games.

RECENT rains made playing conditions very humid but there were no monthly competitions scheduled for the period.

The north green was opened after the annual treatment and is running well.

The afternoon tabs-in voucher challenge last Thursday was fairly well attended and was won this week by the team of Eric Holme, Gerrie Herbst and Brian Dunderdale with +14 and they were awarded vouchers from Atlanta Spur.

There was a fairly good turnout for the club’s prize giving which followed immediately after the Thursday games.

The winners this year in the ladies and men’s sections (respectively) in the following categories:

Novices – Di Hayes and Peter Parker-Dennison.

Handicap Singles – Brian Williams (ladies did not play).

Open Singles – Anne Jenkins and Fanie Vosloo.

Mixed Points Singles – Anne Jenkins.

Nominated Pairs – Martina Olivier, Di Hayes, and Pine Pienaar, Mike Robertson.

Nominated Mixed Pairs – Hilary Holmes and Mike Robertson.

Drawn Pairs – Lida Boltar, Di Hayes and Dennis Nel and Bill Mason.

Drawn Trips – Gail van Nikkelen-Kuyper, Rose Mason, Felicity Burwood and Ian Stockton, Jan Vosloo, Rob Sims.

Drawn Fours – Anne Jenkins, Marie Vosloo, Maz Larkin, Jenny Laight and Pine Pienaar, Erich Holme, Brian Williams, Graham Jackson.

Most Improved – Di Hayes and Jurie van Vuuren.

Congratulations go to all the winners and also to all who took part.

There were many very tight and competitive games and it was ‘touch and go’ in many of the championship rounds.

Looking ahead to next week there is the ladies 2-4-2 today (4th) and the mixed trips this Friday (6th).

These are the last monthly competitions organised for this year, although all normal tabs-in games will be as planned.

There are a ‘few holidays’ in between but the New Year programme starts with the mixed trips on January 3.

The end of year function will take place this Friday (6th) as a lunch and the venue will be a short distance ‘out of town’.

The greens have undergone ‘spring treatment’ are looking good and playing well.

Visiting bowlers are welcome to come and join in our normal ‘tabs-in’ games on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons or on Sunday morning.

All afternoon games start at 2pm (register by 1.30pm) and morning games start at 9am.

To end then we would like to wish all our friends and members a very happy Christmas and if you are travelling anywhere then please drive safely (no wrong bias’s) and we hope to see you all again in 2020.
