The distance this year is around 87km.

Ugu AC will be represented by 35 runners who are ready to tackle this fearful up run route.

Preparation have been completed and have now entered the tapering period where runners slow down to recover from strenuous and rigorous training.

The final phase for all runners, even (or especially) the best, is a mental test as anxiety creeps in. Experienced runners will tell you this is totally normal.

Eddie Ramaloo, head of athletics at Ugu AC, has given all the runners a mandate to finish the race and make the club proud.

He will also be running, so is very much leading by example.

The rest of the club members wish their running friends everything of the best.
