Elite karateka renew focus

It seems interest in karate in the region is growing and nine dojos are currently affiliated to Wkf Ugu.

WKF Ugu Karate region’s elite team, who have achieved Wkf colours of late, had a very successful kata and kumite training session last weekend.

This was held as part of the lead up to the Karate KwaZulu-Natal Elite Trians which will be held in Tongaat on Sunday, February 17.

It’s a Karate South Africa event which means only affiliated dojos can compete and subsequently receive Karate KwaZulu-Natal colours and Protea colours.

Congratulations are extended to this Ugu team on its efforts so far.

The karateka who took part in the training included kyoshi Dave Millar, senseis Coenie Vrey and Elsie Pretorius, as well as Aiden Zandberg, Chloe Ellis, Shakira Coetzer, Tyrese Chateau, Divan du Toit, Marcel du Toit, Tyler Hogan, Anees Jantjies and Gareth Selkon.
