Busy times at Tweni tennis club

Tennis has proven popular and the stunning winter weather has played its part.

Good weather brought enough players to the club to fill five courts at Umtentweni Tennis Club last Saturday.

Visitors Neil Perry, Justin Parasuraman and Colin Whateley were welcome additions.

Grant Wood, with help from Trish, provided cappuccino muffins, lemon cake, sandwiches and those delicious ‘lady finger’ bananas and Morgan Reddy added a Swiss roll so nobody went hungry.

George van der Merwe was away on a course so Chantelle Donald provided the crowd with some ‘George-like’ antics.

Wednesday afternoon was also popular, with four courts being used.

Raj Naganna is going all out to turn the grounds into a ‘going green’ area and wants to encourage everybody on the South Coast to do the same.

Indigenous trees are available from Raj so schools, clubs and the general public can contact him on 083 5555021 if they would like to have any.

It is Raj’s birthday on June 30 and members wish him well and the best of luck when he represents South Africa in the Veteran’s Tournament in Croatia later in the year.

Members wish Grant and Trish Wood a safe trip to Cape Town for Grant’s son, Clive’s wedding.

Saturday duty: June 30 – Chantelle Donald; July 7 – Dan Dimitriu.
