Mayah ‘Smurf’ Potgieter proves she’s a surfer to the core

The little surfer girl has a heart full of courage.

MAYAH Potgieter of Ramsgate would appeared destined to do some pretty special things on the surfboard in years to come.

That’s if her recent efforts at the Wave Wizards event at Bronze Beach, Umhlanga are anything to go by.

She’s only 11 years old but surfed against the U14 boys and open women.

Although she didn’t feature among the finalists, she was given a special ‘Core’ award and prize for being so brave and loyal to the club.

Men’s winner was Beyrick de Vries, while Sophie Bell won the women’s section.

Former South Coaster Andrew Banks won the extremely competitive masters division.
