Margate Swimming Club kicked off 2018 with a serious bang.
Coach Gerhard Labuschagne hosted a ‘Hell Week’ from January 8-12 to whip the swimmers back into shape after the Christmas break.

The five days consisted of running and swimming for hours, body PT and stretching, on top of some interesting, informative lectures by sports specialists.
Jared Read discussed the importance of supplementation to aid the body. He also checked the children’s BMI.
Chiropractor Duane Wood shared on the importance of muscle, joint and ligament care.
Kim Neilson and Tebogo Xaba from Superbodies Margate demonstrated and explained the importance of dynamic and static stretching before and after exercise.
‘Hell Week’ was well worth it to all who took part.
The first Ugu gala of the season was held last weekend. Some fantastic results were yielded by all who took part.
Congratulations to swimmers who qualified for events: Tristan Horsley in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke; Caitlyn Peckham in 100 freestyle and 100m breaststroke, and Alexandros Robbetze in 100m breaststroke.
They now advance as Level 2 swimmers.
Margate Swimming Club operates from Southcity Christian College in Ramsgate in a fully heated pool five days a week.
