South Coast Striders ‘seize the day’ at 21k race

It was a challenging season opener for some of the runners.

Four South Coast Striders took part in the hilly but scenic Kearsney Striders 21km race last Sunday.

The run takes place in Botha’s Hill area with a section along the Comrades route.

Kearsney College’s motto is ‘Carpe Diem’ which most people know means, ‘seize the day’.

Best of the Striders was Graeme Milligan who finished in a time of 01:56, with Christopher Mortimer next in 01:57

Lennox Mtengwane came home in 02:08, with Emmanuel Mufamadi next Strider in, in a time 02:14.

Back at home, 16 Striders took to the road on a training run from Southbroom to Port Edward and back on Sunday morning.

The route was extremely tough and was excellent preparation for the upcoming Two Oceans and Comrades marathons later in the year.
