Speedy times for Blue Ocean swimmers

Each BOA swimmer who took part swam a personal best time.

Blue Ocean Aquatics had 12 swimmers taking part in the recent Speedo KwaZulu-Natal Junior Champs for 2017 at King’s Park 25m pool.

This championship is for all registered swimmers from the province in the 13 and under age group and includes swimmers from all levels.

Each BOA swimmer who took part swam a personal best time somewhere along the line.

The swimmer with the biggest improvement was Amber Vorster who improved by 102.10 seconds over her seven races.

Others who improved were: Marnu Koekemoer by 44.41 seconds, Winé Koekemoer by 34.44 seconds, Milla Drakopoulos by 29.49 seconds, Jethro Rolfe by 27.11 seconds, Nelzaan Strydom by 17.34 seconds, Hannah Scott by 17.34 seconds, Daniel Fisher by 17.33 seconds, Tharien Venter by 14.69 seconds, George Annandale by 10.28 seconds, Gemma Allchin by 8.44 seconds and Olivia Hulley by 0.97 seconds.

The swimmers also made various finals and brought home medals from this meet.

Marnu Koekemoer won a gold medal in the 50m backstroke and silver in the 50m freestyle event. He swam in seven finals.

Daniel Fisher won two bronze medals, in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

Milla Drakopoulos won silver medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle events, racing in four finals altogether.

Gemma Allchin, Hannah Scott, Amber Vorster, George Annandale and Jethro Rolfe all made finals in their respective age groups.

Next up are the provincial champs in December, for level 2, 3 and youth national swimmers.
