Locals win at karate tournament

The colours and medals were achieved at the South Africa All Styles Development tournament.

WORLD Karate Federation (WKF) Ugu Karate region students achieved Ugu development colours and Karate KwaZulu-Natal development colours white and purple belts recently.

The colours and medals were achieved at the South Africa All Styles Development Tournament held in Tongaat. These students worked diligently with extra lessons, even during the holidays and were rewarded with medals.

Shakira Coetzer received a silver for kata and gold for kumite. Kathy van der Westhuizen silver kata and bronze kumite, Chloe Ellis silver kata and bronze kumite.

Marnu Koekemoer bronze kata and bronze kumite. Only dojos affiliated to World Karate Federation, Ugu Karate region, Karate KwaZulu-Natal and Karate South Africa (KSA) were eligible for development, provincial and Protea colours.
