‘Listen to DJ’, youngsters advised

The club is doing its bit to grow the game.

ONE of the highlights of the Easter Weekend at Southbroom Golf Club was pro Derek James’s free clinic for juniors on Monday afternoon this week.

Derek, nicknamed DJ, passed on some of his vast skills to the next generation. There was a decent crowd on a sun-kissed afternoon.

Wednesday’s comp was won on 101 points by Margate Country Club players Wonderboy Nxumalo, Sbu Ntozakhe, Robert Mavundla and Elvis Khawala.

All scores counted on the 5th and 13th.

In second place on 98 points were Erwin Schanda, John Fox, Norman Farrell and Cleve Walker.

They counted out Dave Neilson, Gerald Fitzgerald, Jim Cook and Paul Cole.

In the women’s section, first place went to Maeve Mullane, Margaret Sherratt, Jean Corfe and Candida Amm on 83 points.

They counted out Shelley Myers, Eileen Neilson, Jeanne Powell and a ghost.

Friday’s Easter Alliance was won on 85 points by Howard Buttery, Jack Saulez, Hans and Gjertrud Kok, counting out Thilo, Shane, Hannes and Theo (no surnames provided, alas).
