Dries cashes in at Margate CC

Sunday's 'family day' is picking up nicely.

MARGATE Country Club’s newly launched Carreira-Curlewis Cup, offering attractive prize vouchers, is proving an outstanding success with golfers.

Dries Barkhuizen collected a cool R1 350 after coming tops in the Thursday competition. Gary Smith, who finished second was delighted to receive R500 and third placed Jim Finn didn’t think R300 was too shabby.

‘Longest Walk’, sponsored by Green Valley Golf Range and Beach Wimpy went to Elsie Pretorius.

Saturday’s winner, sponsored by Wild Coast Sun, was Neil Townsend who went home R1 000 richer. Preston Rogers was second and won R500 followed by Johan Wentzel (R300).

In form: Neil Townsend won last Saturday’s comp at Margate Country Club, collecting R1000 for his efforts.

Golfers are reminded that Sundays are set aside for family fun with good food and great music to enjoy. A special rate of R70 for nine holes is also on offer.

Last Tuesday’s women’s comp was won by Alicia Hilt, Lexley Lewis and Chiapinni Boshoff on 80 points, from Margaret Ford, Margaret Taylor and H van Ravenswaay on 72 points.
