Gary bags the big bucks

Interest has been high to see who will win.

GOLFERS have come into some big prize vouchers at Margate Country Club since the launch of the Carreira-Curlewis Cup this year.

Thursday’s winner Gary Smith on 43 points pocketed R1350, while runner-up Rod Bouwer, who had 42 points, won R500.

Third place went to Frik van Zyl.

Saturday was a combined Stableford and the winners were Ronnie Mtshaka and Sbu Ntozakhe on 81 points.

Second were Sydney Shingange and Vusi Maphumulo, followed by Alan Davies and John Ford.

Angus McLachlan shot his age, 83.

Thanks to the sponsors. Sundays are family days, R70 for nine holes.

Wobblers winners last Wednesday were Nico van Vuuren, André Henn and Dave Morrison.

Second were Jan Richter, Derek Egerton and Roy Nolan.

The mixed last Sunday was won on 72 points by JP and Elsie Pretorius, with Wayne and Joan Minnaar.

Runners-up were Sbu Ntozakhe, Lexley Lewis, Vusi Maphumulo and Ada Brits on 70 points.

In women’s games, Beryl Williamson won last Tuesday on +3. Saturday’s comp was won by Jane Davies and Julie Gerber on 44 points, on a countout.
