South Coast junior fly anglers victorious
It's a remarkable achievement on all counts.
THREE young fly fishermen, all members of the South Coast Fly Anglers’ Club, have done the coast proud and will represent KwaZulu-Natal at the upcoming Fly Fishing Nationals to be held in Pilgrims Rest in October.
Liam van der Merwe has achieved provincial colours, while Pieter Strobel and Justin Ashington have attained KZN Fly Fishing Federation (KZNFFA) colours and will fish in the reserve teams at nationals.
This is a remarkable achievement on all counts, as this is the first year that all three boys have attended the elimination rounds and they have all attained official placement.
Liam won the trophy for best junior angler at the Federation champs. He was awarded further prizes for the most fish caught for the 2016 Federation season.
